Hydrogen energy system to give Daxing a flying start

A hydrogen station with a daily fueling capacity reckoned at 4.8 tons -- by far the largest on the globe -- will be put into use in Beijing's Daxing district by the end of March, according to a news conference on the local two sessions on Jan 6. 

The energy station is able to refuel 16 fuel-cell electric automobiles at the same time, and can serve up to 600 vehicles per day.

A hydrogen station with a daily fueling capacity reckoned at 4.8 tons -- by far the largest on the globe -- will be put into use in Beijing's Daxing district by the end of March, according to a news conference on the local two sessions on Jan 6. 

The energy station is able to refuel 16 fuel-cell electric automobiles at the same time, and can serve up to 600 vehicles per day.

A core component of the Daxing International Hydrogen Demonstration Zone, the entire project is expected to be completed by June. By then, Daxing will be well on its way to forming a hydrogen energy industry ecosystem.

Gao Zhenhua, director of the local economics and information technology authority, noted that Daxing should ride full steam ahead on the mighty driving force of the Beijing China-Japan Innovation & Cooperation Demonstration Zone.

He explained that the district will boost the whole-chain clean energy economy by integrating Japan's world-leading hydrogen energy industry advantages and its own space resources.

The hydrogen energy demonstration zone is a leading project of the Daxing-based Beijing China-Japan Innovation & Cooperation Demonstration Zone, and will be built with hydrogen fueling demonstration stations, experience exhibition halls and science parks. It covers a total area of about 140,000 square meters.

Last year, Daxing united another 11 areas including the Tianjin Binhai New Area and Baoding and Tangshan cities of Hebei province to create a fuel cell vehicle demonstration cluster and facilitate regional green energy transformation.

More efforts will be made to get a flying start on the peak carbon dioxide emissions outline in this, the beginning year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
