Daxing district launched a series of 65 activities last Friday to promote innovation and encourage starting up businesses, including innovation competitions, entrepreneurship training, achievements exchange and display, and branding activities. The colorful activities will last until December.

At the event, Daxing district released its 2019 policy on advancing innovation and facilitating business start-ups. 

Daxing plans to run competitions which focus on medicine and health, new-generation information technology, artificial intelligence, airport industry and new business modes based on the Internet.

Several universities in Daxing district will also organize training for students, in part focused on Daxing’s policies on innovation and starting up businesses, bringing in talents, regulation of high-tech, technology and finance enterprises, and intellectual property.

At the launch ceremony, the principal assistant of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Zhang Yangzhi, said that the school will try its best to build an integrated industrial complex that has talent cultivation as its core and emphasizes business incubation and transformation of entrepreneurial achievements. He also said that the school will recruit and train overseas students from countries along the Belt and Road and explore cooperation in constructing Confucius Institutes and other fields.

Activities to promote pharmaceutical and health brands and to build the "cherry blossom festival" brand will also be held during this period. 

Certain outstanding achievements were also shared and displayed at the event. 

According to the deputy head of Daxing district, Yang Beibei, Beijing's new international airport located in Daxing will open as scheduled in late September this year, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the district. Daxing will actively develop a real economy, advance the construction of innovative industrial groups and build itself into the demonstration zone of China's Vision 2025 plan which aims to make the country a global manufacturing power. Through these efforts, Daxing intends to drive the development of Southeast Beijing.
