The World Robot Conference with a theme of "Intelligent ecosystem for a new open era" kicked off in Yizhuang economic development zone in Beijing's Daxing district on Aug 20. It will last till August 25.

"It is important to enhance the key technologies in the robotics sector to promote overall artificial intelligence industry development," said Beijing mayor Chen Jining at the conference’s opening ceremony.

China will step up efforts to achieve breakthroughs in crucial robotics technologies and promote the use of industrial and service robots in plants and daily lives, the country's top industry regulator said on August 20.

The event attracted many who admired the automatons on display at the opening ceremony.
