The garbage landfill in Anding town was built in 1996, and most of the domestic garbage from the southern areas of Beijing was buried here, affecting the living environment of surrounding villages.

In order to improve the quality of life for local residents, Daxing district began the construction of beautiful new villages and started relocating seven villages away from the landfill in July 2019. The move is part of the pilot policy of homestead reform.

Taking into account the vital interests and living needs of the villagers, Daxing district conducted surveys ahead of the project. The planning and design of the rebuilt villages has been carried out highlighting quality, efficiency, interests and living needs of villagers, and community innovation.

At the same time, according to the principles of law, free replacement, and appropriate reward, the implementation plan of relocation in Anding town is expected to meet the needs of villagers and enhance their happiness to the greatest extent.

The relocation of the seven villages will involve 2,048 households, and the villagers are expected to live in multi-storey villas in three years.

The new villas are to be divided into two areas in the east and in the west, which will be far away from the landfill. Furthermore, commercial, cultural, educational and health facilities, as well as water, electricity, gas, heat and other municipal facilities will be built to make people's lives more convenient.
