Local officials, Party members and volunteers were mobilized to thoroughly clean the Linxiaolu neighborhood of Beijing’s Daxing district on weekends, bringing it a new look by integrating epidemic prevention efforts with urban construction.

“After two days of cleaning, our community has been spruced up, and that makes us feel comfier,” said a local resident surnamed Qin on July 14.

The neighborhood has done more to renovate its appearance and cultivate a clean and comfortable environment.

It has increased walkability based on strict management and control rules. Regular inspections were conducted every day to stop illegal car parking and other types of footpath blockages.

Crowds and gatherings in squares, parks and shop entrances were broken up in a timely manner by volunteers during the inspections.

Merchants in the commercial block were encouraged to eradicate messy debris and street litter.

Public areas have been under strict cleaning and disinfection, especially toilets, garbage collection points and sanitation vehicles.

The neighborhood also released anti-epidemic knowledge and real-time dynamics of prevention information on its WeChat official account, installed community light emitting diode (LED) screens to guide residents not to believe or spread rumors, and raised awareness of prevention and control.

Meanwhile, local residents were asked to develop good personal and public hygiene habits for long-term improvement.
