Passengers, visitors and airport staff who love reading can now take advantage of free book lending services provided by the newly opened Beijing Daxing International Airport branch of Capital Library of China.

The library said it will be open year-round with 12 hours of service every day.

"It's the first time I have seen a library of such scale with full service in China," said Li Wenwei, a white-collar worker at a company in Beijing with foreign investors. "I travel a lot. Airports are frequent stops. It's great we can have a place to read during travel."

Different from the airport bookstores, the library has a large collection of books in various formats, as well as music and data resources.

Readers can return books checked out from the airport branch at any of the 388 Capital Library branches in the city. People can also participate in offline cultural activities offered free at the library.

During the 10-day trial operation before its official opening, the library offered more than 10,000 books for borrowing, 580,000 audiobooks, more than 1.5 million music works and 18 databases.

The total area of the airport library is 500-square-meters, divided into two sections on two floors.

One area is located at the international arrival area on the first floor of the terminal, directly facing Gate 16. The other is located at the end of Concourse A in the domestic departure area on the second floor.
