Asia-Africa cooperation center inaugurated in Daxing

A ceremony was held in Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone on June 28 to mark the inauguration of the Asia-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center (AAICC).

The unveiling ceremony also drew the attendance of ambassadors from six African partner countries in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

As the first key project of China's National Center for Science & Technology Innovation, the AAICC is set to become a major platform for promoting business exchanges between China and Africa. It is also expected to better connect China with the continent, attract high-quality foreign investment, optimize business environment for foreign capital, provide firms with one-stop services, and deepen China-Africa cooperation on trade, investment, technology, environmental protection, culture and tourism, and talent.

Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone will fully utilize National Center for Science & Technology Innovation to promote resource sharing, expand investment promotion network, enlarge its popularity among prospective clients and strengthen professional training on investment promotion in collaboration with relevant projects amid its efforts to build a complex of international industries and an array of service platforms in the fields of industrial development, human resources, international business and consumption.

During the gathering, Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone signed cooperation agreements with dozens of foreign companies.

The ceremony also witnessed the opening of an industrial collaboration center and a demonstration base for the cooperation among government departments, firms, research institutions and universities.

So far, a total of 2,643 firms, including 45 foreign companies, have settled down in Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone.

Statistics show that the past several months of this year have seen the registration of 381 firms, which include 12 foreign companies.
